As universities are being restructured to favour the growth of a Higher Education Market, to feed into the Knowledge Economy, it is time to revisit the fundamental questions: What is a University and what is its purpose? What are the conditions necessary for a university to exist? What impact are the new experiments in Commercialisation and Privatisation likely to have on people’s relationship with universities?
