WORKLOAD
FC: Hindi/MIL & English: 5 periods/week (4 lectures+1 student’s presentation), all others: 3 periods/week (2 lectures+1 student’s presentation), DC-I & DC-II: 5 periods/week (4 lectures+1 student’s presentation), AC: 3 periods/week (2 lectures+1 student’s presentation) and IMBH/CA: 2 periods/week.

The University has given no rationale for a fourth year for the Honours degree. How many students will leave after the 2nd & 3rd years will not be known in advance, therefore workload, already made unstable by semesterisation, will vary even more. This phenomenon will increase further with the Meta-College system. The infrastructure does not allow for any more lectures, tutorials and practicals than at present. The ratio of discipline papers to total number of papers has decreased. That is why there is dishonest silence on the lecture-class size and the size and frequency of tutorial and practical groups. This is a course catered to appoint teachers on contract basis in line with the UPA government’s thrust on commercialisation of higher education through FDI, etc. The only choice given to students is the option to exit. While over 4000 teachers continue as ad hoc, this “reform” threatens permanent contractualisation. It is anti-teacher and anti-student. The DTF appeals to you to vote decisively against anti-academic reforms and authoritarian and arbitrary governance.

Elect ABHA DEV HABIB to the EC

Your 1st preference vote for her is a vote against
these anti-teacher, anti-student reforms and the autocratic VC.
